wat is the latest chemo

#2

Latest chemo approved in the US is votrient. It is not used as a first line therapy for now: it is not the first chemo used at initial diagnosis. Conventional chemo for initial treatment is a combination of doxorubicin and ifosfamide (with Mesna to protect the kidneys). The treatment is called AIM. Other chemos approved for use are gemcitabine and docetaxel. Everything else is in clinical trial.

Also yondelis is approved in Europe but not yet in the US.

hi

but which is best first line chemo

So far, AIM has been considered the best first line chemo for sarcoma. There hasn't been clinical trials to look at which first line chemo is best for synovial sarcoma in particular. There is just not enough patients to do such trial. Synovial sarcoma is known to be particularly sensitive to high dose ifosfamide compare to other sarcomas. My first line chemo was a bit different from AIM. My oncologist alternated cycles of doxorubicin.cisplatin with cycles of high dose ifosfamide. I think he is the only one who does that though.
